Progress!

So....
The napery is ironed, folded and put away, so is all my garb (except the coat which will go to the dry-cleaners on Friday), and all my work clothes. All my other washing is folded and away or ready to go into the machine before my walk tomorrow night.

The festival fridge is having it's test run next to me presently. Looks like it'll do the job nicely.

Miss A is putting the meal plan together, and it's looking good.

Fresh sheets on the bed.

Tent lighting switchbox underway.

I have managed to stick to my weight watchers for 2 days in a row. Yay! Carrots and Celery!

Hot Fuzz is RAOTFLMAO funny.

No peachick... also seem to be down a duckling.

Winston the goat is playing nice again. I reckon Stella is putting out. What is it with guys these days, I don't know.... It's like they roll out of their stall put some spunk on, and expect all the nanny's to swoon. I don't think so...

Kitchen is a disaster. Tomorrow nights effort! The solar panels probably don't need to be in there really, nor do the peltier cooling plates (refridgerated glove box here we come!).

Project Turn-a-1950's-radio-cabinet-into-a-dolby-sound-system-of-sexy-art-deco-doom! is underway, particularly in the research department. Current theory is, mimic the original bakelite panel (which is broken and generally dead) with a TFT photoframe unit, and use a IR transceiver to convert a 5.1 computer amp into the required device. CD's/DVD's into a DVD player.... how to hide it while still being able to change the disk... secondary inputs to photo frame could be handy too...

Found a full 15" Photo frame which would drop into a baroque frame really nicely... I wonder if I could get hold of it in time to have it refit at the cool framing place in moorabin...

Festival picking list is underway.

Gutted

Peamum is doing laps of the house crying for her chick, and it's absolutely doing my head in. She sounds so distressed. I'll go out and see if she's concentrating on any one point in a bit... maybe it's not too late.

Not good for my fragile state of mind.

Cooling Off

Just having a little sit after my morning walk, I'd forgotten how nice a bracing walk just before sunrise can be. Very much looking forward to this part of working from home. A certain fluffy monster on my lap thinks it's pretty good too.

Plenty of potaroos out, as well as a couple of foresters, and a heap of bunnies. Must get firearms licence.

In recent cuteness:

Mum with bub preening under her wing, sitting under the oak tree

Mum and one of the locals chillin' in the yard

Blue boys 'please dont leave me!' gift, before my departure to NZ

Breaking news...

Just went to feed the critters. It looks like the outside peachick died last night. Mum was cruising around and a lot less clucky than before. Bugger.

Bathroom Cabinet Construction

So, I'm kinda tall, and unless I feel liking making like a penitential vampire, I need a bathroom cabinet/mirror combination that lets me see myself in the mirror at the same time as the little folk.

The walls are fairly thin (no more than 100mm), so if I want to be able to fit anything useful in there it needs to be protruding from the wall a bit. To be able to fit any quantity of stuff in it, it needs to be of reasonable size. So I decided to cut out a stud and throw into a lintel and sill to reinforce the roof.

I a large chunk of this in early Jan, here's where I started.

This is after I've cut the four really easy rebates out to put the fillers in.

This is where I worked my way into the timber in the corner in the wayy, where the circular saw wouldn't go into.

More chunks out. I wonder what's happening on the other side of the wall with all this thumping.

The lintel and sill sitting in position.

The next day I cut out the stud and the brace.

And then I bugle screwed the lintel and sill in.The production of the cabinet is in progress and will be dealt with later. In the meantime, what did all that thumping do...

Well... It dun blew the whole wall out cletus!

More work! Woot!

General Update

Well, I’m back from Canty Faire, very tired and completely out of my normal headspace.
There has been bathroom stuff going on but I haven’t completed the project I’m in on at the moment yet, I should post where I’m at anyway really. Maybe tonight...

The faire was fun, but I should have spent much less time drunk. It would have been nice to fight, but it really wasn’t practical given the state of my knee.
I met lots of fantastic people, learnt a bunch of stuff, and bought lots of bits.
Next year hopefully I’ll be fighting fit and will work a lot harder and drink a lot less.

The state of things currently is;
My head is still in tired/post-holiday mode, so I’m going to make sure I spend a few days working from home this week.
The bathroom needs progressing, as do the festival preparations, I’ve got 6 weeks though, so I should be able to pull it together.
My new bathtub has arrived and is very pretty, although Guy referred to it as a basin, given how short it is.
I have put a bid in for 12th Night 2009, which I hope will get up (even with some fee massaging).
I won’t be fighting May Crown or attending Midwinter Coronation, too far to go, too difficult to get there, too much time away from home.
Most of the washing load is under control thanks to some judicious prewashing and folding before departure and a little done at the hermitage. Much with ironing, most of my napery in fact.
One dead chicken, with all the hallmarks of being taken by a native cat. Not much I can do about it, those suckers get in everywhere, and they're coming down out of the hills because of the drought, so until it rains... Other than that, everything is alive and well, and the cat is uber-smoochy.

I started my new job a fortnight before CF and it’s all going well. Working from home is a dream, working on actual Work is even better. Now all I have to do is enough overtime work to get my annual leave balance to 0 again, so that I can make it all negative again for Festival... Although again I can do some work in transit, just not as much as on the way to CF.

Today/Tonight’s list:
Pick in and fold washing.
Email people
Reorganise finances to reflect new pay date.
Find out what the go is with Physio under my health insurance.
Book a massage.
Email all the folk who tried to get hold of me while I was away.
Mark up for a door for the peafowl shelter.
Put up Bathroom cabinet part one post.
Hassle suppliers for receipts.
Flickr...

I’m still finding it extraordinarily difficult to reconcile my self-image with that of those around me. I had a few people remark on the fact that even though I may have doubts, they don’t project on the surface. There were other strangeness’s in this department, but it’s all part of the weird, I’m sure I’ll work it out.

Must stop forgetting things...
Must do paperwork for the divorce soon

Weighed in at 106.5kg this morning, and I’ve had several folk comment that my scales appear to weigh light... This does not bode well, I like my cheekbones, and I want to keep them. Back to weight watchers it is, with a goal weight of 94kg, and a 97cm waistline. I also need to build a regular weights program in, particularly on my right leg, it’s starting to look quite atrophied, and I’m sure that, as well as my posture and the injuries, are where the additional injuries are coming from.

Back to the millstone!
