Can't wait to edge, cover and paint them up to be ready for war. If I can train folk up to a decent standard with these babies.... Beware the YF shield charge!

Last Weekend Duty, Woohoo!!

Today is Monday.

It's the monday after my last (and in a perfect example of uncrontrolled Karma Discharge, my worst) weekend duty at the evil paper company of doom (I wonder if they'll make me give back the disembodied eye on a tower, and the one ring when I leave). No longer will I be able to say "I kill trees for a living. In South America!" when people ask me what I do.

No, soon I will be able to say "I make drugs! Want some?" Although I probably won't 'cause I like the package and don't want to get sacked.

Highlights of the weekend.
-One guy diced his finger. Tried to catch a knife.... hmmmm...

-I cleaned all the personal and SCA stuff out of my office. Only 7 boxes!

-Our machine stopped working properly, we haven't fixed it yet.

-As per my predictions over the last 3 years and in line with my comments to our energy supplier. Basslink's switching system DID caused the north-west coast to say "Oh Darn" in a collective sigh of disgust at the ability of private enterprise to build yet another completely unworkable distribution system. Nice work guys.

-I got to sleep in cos' I only left work at 2am, sucky, sucky, ball, balls.

As an aside,
Yay for maintaining good relations with our Trades. They're definately looking after me in the exit process.

Departing the Isle of Contentment......

In my recent training we talked about the idea of the stagesof change, which were, contentment, denial, confusion and renewal. For the last few years I've been happily renting a domicile on my own Isle of Contentment. Yesterday I kicked myself off it, by putting in my notice for my current employer.

For me this is a big change as this is my first job change since uni, and deciding between the two jobs has been a fairly stressful process.

So now I have to learn a new job, new collegues, new routines etc. Should be fun.

Of course, just before I put my notice in, work offers me the biggest electrical project our site has had in 10 years. Bugger. At least the new guys have a big job lined up for me when I get there.

And I get RDO's. Woo hoo!!

31 Days to go till I'm unemployed for a week.

Followed by a big Fortnight and a bit

After the champion effort on the shelving I gave it a chaser by putting the shelves in and playing with some more storage ideas. Even got the wire for the new catenery up to the shed.

Caught the ferry to Melbourne on Thursday night and then drove to canberra for the politarchopolis investiture. Was very sad to see Edmund and Leta step down, possibly the most emotionally charged court I've ever seen. Alessandro and Isobel did such a fantastic job with their step up, bodes really well for polit. Got about an hour and ahalf of biff in before hitting the road again to head beack to kew.

Spent the week in melbourne for training for work. Got myself to arrowsreach fighter training, which was great, 14 fighters in kit! Lot's of wrongness at the last night of the work training course.



As I was driving up the hill from the course I got a call from another company making me an offer for work.... Which I'm taking, V. Scary kicking myself off the Island of contentment.

Next weekend was Aneala invest, but I was waaaaay too tired to be there. I nearly threw up in armour and I'm pretty sure my verbal filters were completely turned off. Their invest feast was really impressive with every dish being an illusion of some sort. So much pagentry and effort in the food. Spectacular!!

Jane and Lachlan had a theatrical marriage as part of their step-up which was suprising but worked really well.

On my way back after getting off the red-eye from Perth to Melbourne at 0500, I ducked up to seymour to pick up a metal lathe (iended up having a sleep at the mobil in seymour) and then went past the kew house to help sort through some of Grandad's bumpf. Took home a couple of fantastic black marble clocks (of which aparrently I have to pick up a couple more), and an antique model boat hull. Still have to go back and pick up a mahogany secretair, and a full size sher shop-mate. Also found a full 2 volume set of shellac 78's of Handle's Messiah.



Clock's are cool.

The rest of the week was work and setting up for the weekend, and negotiations for salary.

Friday night I went and got a bandsaw 14" 3 speed 3/4hp, for $200, un-bloody-beleiveable.

Ive spent the rest of the weekend wiring up the shed and catenery, my new 12V winch paid for itself in hauling up the cable, mucho easy. I now have more points in the shed, seperate light and power circuits and everything prepared for the new seperate welding and suction circuits.

Next couple of weeks are making gothic arch chairs, working on the list board, wiring welding outlets and setting up the fan. Might even have a go at running the suction lines and CA tubing, but we'll see.
