Insulated with extreme prejudice
The entire ceiling, bar the ktichen and Laundry/Bathroom/Pantry has been insulated with R3.8 batts. The entire house is warmer and a nicer place to be. When the sun set, the temperature of the house didn't change.
Friday night Andrew and I got up there and moved about 8 bags of the old "insulwool" product which had clearly been laid by some pretty shady characters (you could tell by the way anywhere that was slightly out of sight, was uninsulated), which was OK, I also threw down a few of the loose batts from a broken bag, to make room for Andrew to get into the corners.
Yesterday we completed the Spare room, dining room, bathroom, hallway, and master bedroom, and started on the small spare room, and the lounge, until I couldn't fit into the spaces anymore, and Andrew was too tired to keep going.
Here's Andrew pushing the old wool out of the far side of the spare room (yes, that's a hazmat bag. What! They were cheap! and they're really strong. So what if they shut the tip as soon as they see one!)

Here's the space into the small spare room, clearance height is about 350mm, which I can fit into, but once I'm there I can't do a thing.
Bags and bags of the old wool. It'll stay there until I repitch the roof to straighten ou the dining room. The pile that came out was about a quarter of what went in, and is packed about 1/8 as densely.
A pile of batts ready to head into the Master bedroom and spare room.
Today was a long day of Andrew getting into all the tight spots, and me making sure he was OK and removing the iron to make the air move and to make it easier for hime to get from place to place. I did get to put a bag or two in, in the back room.
Next job, the plinth for the hot water service
Still no baby goats.

mmm, insulation. If you keep this warmification of your house up I might actually come and stay again!
Well, I'd visit anyway, this way I just get to stay toasty warm.
What are those goats doing?
In Erko land, Minnie had the abcess of doom and is now wearing a bucket after having her sugical drain removed. I am $1000 poorer, but feel she's worth it.
Yay for warm! and cool in summer!
